Well I recently hand made a huge new cage for my Collard I think he loves it he has room to ru jump and catch his food with no problem. But there is a fwe things I would like to bring up about the set up I have and some suggestions you guys/girls(EVE-lol) might have for me becuase i am having some problems.

Ok well I bascally have the simple set-up water branch basking spot/hide.Now I got this magazine in the mail it was like a Dr.Foster reptile magazine or something like that and thye had some nice rocks especially for reptiles fairly chea not that cheap though.

So let me know where you get your rocks or ledges or any other cage Decor.Another thing I dont like about branches is that those darn drickets get into the cracks and inside the branch and which is annoying b/c then they do not come out and they stay in there chirping all night. So what other branches can i use or what can iI do to prevent this?

Also the Hides.I have one hide and I am hpoing to get a few more in there even though I do have 1 Collard but its all about him SPOIL lol.So what are the best cage furnishes that are the best for Collards anything

THANKS!!!

The backyard is my favorite source. I just make sure everything is vermin free and clean.

Back yard is where i got some of my stuff as well.
Slate rock works really great and is fairly cheap. I've got all kinds of drift wood in my tank.
But you are right, the crickets will crawl up there and hide. Just gotta shake them out.
I also used wood(sanded VERY well)and made my guy a stand thing. Its got 2 levels, one up high, right under his basking light, then one close to the bottom of his tank.
Good luck on your decorating.
We'd like to see pics of your tank!

My cage decor came from a variety of places. Plants from Lowes, Home Depot, Wal-Mart and Black Jungle.com. Wood from Black Jungle and local petstores. Rock-looking planter from Wal-Mart.

But, I can tell you that I have never gotten any rocks from off the beaten path portions of forests, parks, and wildlife areas. No matter how nice they are and how perfectly they would fit in my tank.

I like good ole fashioned rocks, Anywhere I find a neat one . Funny since having lizards I always have an eye open for a cool rock, limb, branch for my arboreal lizards.

Always thinking lizards. And what would look good! But I look outside and then scrub them down real well.

I also love using slate for basking, put it on top of bricks. Makes it secure. Easy to clean. Holds heat.

Make sure with any rocks, you always put them on the glass then put sand down, so they can't dig under and have it pin them or tople on them and squish them. It happens more than you think.

We need to see your new BIG collared home.
