Congratulations! I think there is often a compatability issue between certain male and female rattlesnakes. Just like humans some just don't seem to get along, or maybe one or the other is a "twelve packer" in the snakes point of view.
It often takes considerable time for some pairs to commit, but once they they start they usually keep producing babies.

Yes, he is a real beauty. I enjoy just looking at him. I am a biology teacher and students found him while picnicing with their families and had the insight not to kill him. They caught him and gave him to me.
