i got him 3 months ago...sept. 15 he measure 29 inches.......october 16 he measured 31 inches.....november 15 he measured 34 inches.....and now december 15 he measures 40 inches!!!! rite now he is still eating frozen thawed small rats 1x a week....i think i am going to switch him to live samll rats for another 2 feedings until i switch to medium...live rats are cheep at my pet store...and i do not have an extra freezer to order large quanities from the internet. I have 1 question?....Usually he will not strike at his prey and i just put it in there and he eats it 10 mins later...when i go to live.....I am going to stun it first then drop it in? will he attack and constrict? ....Also i will switch back to frozen when he goes to rabbits because by then ill have an extra mini freezer and hopefully a job

when you say stun do you mean dead??? Just kill the rat before you give it to him...thats the best thing to do, he'll probobly just continue eating like he has

What Jason said sounds about right.

Yes do what Jason said and just feed fresh killed. There are many different ways to kill rats. You could get a pillow case just for killing them in, put the rat in the pillow case and give it a good swing and slam it (not too hard) into the wall. You can also drown them in a coffee can (poke hole in the top and submerge it in a bucket). You can also take and hit it on the head with the handle of a screwdriver or knofe. You could make a CO2 chamber. You could hold the rat in one hand and then quickly gra the rats head and twist it to break the neck (you might want to wear some gloves for this). Thats all I can think of right now.

Grab right behind the head with tweezers very firm and grab the tail with your hand and quickly yank both ways. It seperates the vertebrae in the neck and back and the rats feel very little. They don't even jerk and carry on after this. They are just limp and dead.
