to built4spd13 and others on bali yellow headed retics! (kind of long)

I've talked to many breeders and also people who have kept them. I know wild caught ones are plain PSYCHO'S! I hear people have had them for years and they seem to be just to darn deffensive, and never calm down. I've also heard the same for c.b.b. specimens. I've LONG looked at bali's and have always been turned away by this. I've also seen pics of bali's yes that's right bali's that are 16plus feet in length. They are said to be a smaller retic but they aren't a true dwarf. I'd love to get in touch with the breeder you talked with or the store and find out some more info. i'd love to get a pair of bali's but i've done long extensive research and maybe i didn't get the whole story!? because looks like your holding that baby in the pic below with no problems?! I'm going to be buying a pair of babies depending on what i learn. Next comes a pair of tigers and albinos! Anyways please let me know what you have learned and where i can find more info. I'd really like to purchase a pair!
John

I've also came across this link in search of more information. http://www.homestead.com/PSReptiles/SnakesforSale.html
They have a 14ft plus pair for sale when you go to that link. They produced 32 eggs last year and herpafauna says about 10 eggs? This is what i mean things don't add up!

That could mean that in a breeding year the female produced 32 eggs, and in one clutch she produced ten eggs. I think that is what is meant by what you put down.
Check the classifieds for Retics that are CB (captive bred). Get a hatchling if possible. You'll stand a better chance of taming it down easier. Just handle it as much as you can and yes even babies bite. Expect it!
Good luck.

My male Retic (Kaa) is sweet as pie. I just make sure to handle him as often as possible w/out trying to stress him out. He's not head shy or anything. Easy handling is the key. A lot of Retics can be nippy and bite but that is what happens with reptiles. Just make sure to handle w/out gripping.
As far as the variance in clutches there are a lot of factors that can cause that. In one season a female can lay 12 or more eggs but that same female the next season may only lay five. Again there are many different factors in that. Temps, humidity, even the age of the breeder can be a factor. How many clutches the female has laid is another. clutch size will always be different.
I know this may not help much but this is what I know.
