Anybody know about size.....

mattcbiker Dec 17, 2004 06:47 AM

I'm wondering about my female bullsnake. She's supposedly from Illinois locale parents but she looks a lot like those heee in Minnesota. Either way she is a dark one and very very relaxed. She's 4 months old and about 23" now.

My question is if these northern locales can get as big as Texas bulls often tdo, and if anybody knows the Max or record of bulls up north here.

I'm already thinking about her next cage!
Thanks - Matt

matt, that looks like a kankakee county, illinois bull to me. they do not get as large as some texas bulls but have that 'bull build' nevertheless. i have a three year old that is about 4' and so black it reminds one of an eastern kingsnake practically!

I'm definently looking forward to her growing up. I actually have an E. King also that is about 4', and I was looking for a snake who will get larger than her. I would really like her to reach at least five feet. I don't want to powerfeed, but I am feeding her plenty and she seems to be doing great so far!

It's a Kankakee. I produced it. MN. bulls are very variable and some look similar to IL. animals. John Meltzer

John,

I've been told that you produced my snake, good to hear it from you! This is my first Pit., you don't happen to have any pics of the adults, do you?
Thanks - Matt

Hi John,
Last year John Cherry had a bunch of bulls he said came from you that he had tagged as Minn. Bulls. This picture is a spittin' image of either one of my pair that I got from Cherry. How do you differentiate?

Hi Pat,
Basically, by where the adults originated. As I mentioned in the previous post, many of the northern locals are similar in appearance. Most northern bulls tend to be dark, altho I have found a few lighter ones here in MN. One big difference is in the size of the hatchlings. My Kankakee babies are twice as big as my MN. hatchlings. Take care. John Meltzer

Whatever they are, John, they are one of my favorite pairs of Bulls!!! They are always alert and seem more interested in what's going on in the snake room than any of the others.
