Columbian Redtail "noises"

red_eyed_magalie Jul 02, 2003 09:16 PM

Does anyone have or has anyone heard of Columbians making noise? I mean...like a loud make-you jump-out-of-your-seat-and run-noise....afraid-to-go-in-the-room noise...afraid a "monster" is in there or something...DON'T LAUGH!! It's true. I thought someone was in the room and was moving something. It was that loud. I read tons of books and have found nothing to explain any of it. I found my male up and about shortly there after making some noise but not like the first time the noise was made and I am just not sure what that means....

Anyone?

Maggie

My sonorans make that noise-it usually means 'go away' more than anything else, and with one particular sonoran, it also means she will strike if you don't back off.

Their hissing sounds like an overpressurized tire going flat.

while I don't know that your boa is doing this, there was a post lower down about noises:

Thanks for the info. I am truely amazed at these stories and what has amazed me the most is that I can't find this in any of the books that I have read about them. Strange? You would think someone would write about their snakes making these weird noises. I didn't think snakes could make those types of noises but I am not alone....

Thank you everyone for your replies
Maggie
