WHITE SIDED Black rats, Brooksi, Speckled kings..... origin?........ please explain!!!

ZFelicien Dec 17, 2004 06:02 PM

Are these all pure or was one of these used to produce the other two. are their any other white sided snakes species out there? I noticed white sided Brooksi have ruby eyes is that the same for w/s speckled and black rats?
For some reason when 1st saw white sided Brooksi I thought black rat X Brooksi hybrid, but a few days ago I saw a w/s speckled and I began thinking OK... w/s speckled X Brooksi Intergrade.

Can any of you clarify this for me?

N please more pix of the white sided speckled... very very nice.

None of the white-sided projects came into exhistence through hybridizing. The first W/S black rats that I saw offered was some years back at the Orlando Expo.A man[don't know his name]offered them in Orlando Expo for 2 maybe 3 years before seeing anyone else having them. They were a pure strain then. The first W/S brooksi was found by me when out-crossing a LLoyd Lemke strain axanthic in 1997.The W/S speckle was produced by Terry Vanderventer. He acquired the original wild caught male from the person who caught it.It was kept as a pet for some 10 years or longer before Terry acquired it.The W/S speckle is the only W/S morph that was wild caught to my knowledge.Don't forget the W/S bulls,I think they were produced by Craig Trumbauer. There is also a W/S morph either in a boa species or blood python species. All of these are pure strains.A ribbon snake was wild caught here in Louisiana,it was beleived to be leaucistic, now with age,it looks more white-sided,it developed a pattern on its back.
