Anyone seen/use that hemp bedding that is sold like carefresh, for reptiles and small animals? It's called lifemate. Any thoughts on it?

I used Care Fresh for years, loved its natural look and the way my snake can make long-term tunnels in it. Hated the cost - at least $17 per bag usually. Way too much money for the product.

One day, I stopped at a landscaping store and found that a HUGE bag of sand, well over 90 pounds, cost less than $5!

It retains droppings well, too. The soiled spot can easily be removed by a spoon. The rest of the sand stays clean. I only need to change the entire vivarium setup every few WEEKS.

I advocate that reptile enthusiasts stop buying expensive bedding at pet stores. Most people not needing himid setups can safely use strained sand for much less money, and it looks more natural, too.

Saving money & happy...

I have been using it since I 1st saw it @ a petco about 2 months ago,and it seems to be doing just fine for me... I like it... & GOD knows I have tried every bedding under the sun.. You can ask 10 different ppl though and chances are 7 of them use something different.... I think I'll continue to use it though....
