It would be interesting if someone could figure out what chemically is happening in the caramels. Maybe caramel is missing some enzyme to make fully black pigment and somehow these paradox are getting a little of it made in spots.
Steve, any chance you will breed your paradox caramel to an albino to see if he's het albino?
Is anyone crossing these two morphs (caramel and albino) this year? I know it seems silly as proverbial wisdom is that albino will cover caramel but I was hoping to see a test to confirm or eliminate the possibility that caramel and albino are alleles and the double hets will be caramel looking animals. Kind of an expensive test I know if you do get the expected normal looking double hets (how much less would the females be than albinos?) but it will be years before I can do it myself. I did breed a 66% chance het caramel male to a 50% chance het albino female this year and got only 1.4 normals.
