Spinal Chord

SerpentGuy Jul 02, 2003 09:30 PM

I was feeling my rainbow boa's spinal chord and i noticed that there was a little indentation in it. She eats, sheds, drink, defecates, and does everything ok. Will this indentation in the spinal chord effect anything? Will it affect breeding? If the snake is ok, does it really matter that it is broken?

If everything is working OK...she moves normally with no problems, has no problems eating, shedding or defecating, I wouldn't give it a second thought. It may be just a "spinal kink" which is a common birth defect in snakes. I've seen some pretty kinked up snakes produce nothing but normal babies. If she produces a brood that has a high incidence of kinks and other abnormalities, then I would just keep her for a pet snake.
