crested gecko puking

uroplatusguy Dec 18, 2004 10:31 AM

hi i dont usually post here. i have a question though. last night i caught my juvie male crested vomiting. he did not vomit anything solid or colored it was more like a clear thick liquid. i got him from petco (more like rescued) and he was doing really well. he is in a 10 gallon with coco bark bedding as substrate, a uv bulb and hiding place, plant and waterdish. he seems to be in good physical health although maybe dehdrated. humidity is good and there is a female in the cage with him. the female shows no signs of vomiting and seems to be in very good physical health. i was wondering if he could be impacted? ithought that it does not cause impactions but if it does i will remove it from all of my cresteds cages. None of my other cresteds have have this problem and that includes a two and a half month old baby i haatched myself.any questions i can answer to help me with this problem and thank you for reading this.

i've never had cresteds do this, but i've had my blue tegu, and a green basilisk do the same. usually within 1/2 an hour after drinking quite a bit if they become extremely active sometimes they will puke up the water. had you recently watered them? it seems to be a natural reflex for them to puke it up soon after drinking it if they are handled much or for some reason are hanging upside down.

well i had not seen them drink alot of water, but he did have his head down below his vent when he puked ... i have not seen that to much in any lizard i own so i was a little worried about it.
