Color change during the winter?

harikrishna Dec 18, 2004 12:13 PM

My BRBs have gone through a dramatic color change during the winter. Hopefully this is not permanent because I like their normal colors a lot better. In particular the male's crescents have turned white!

It is believed that all snakes darken to retain more heat...this is sometimes due to breeding season, and that is what appears to be going on with yours. Are they sexually mature? Good luck if they are, and make sure you know the temps at all times. Andy

Yes they are sexually mature (4 years) and I will be trying to breed this season for the first time. I tried cooling for a few weeks, but after reading some posts on the forum I have gone back to normal temps. Hopefully their color will return in time. Other than that they are healty and still taking F/T rats.
