Just curious....

Does anybody else's cornsnake do a rattlesnake interpretation? Mine happens to be very good at it. Now I am assuming that my cornsnake is wild caught, would that be a good assumption?

Thanx,
Will

Haha, yes, my baby did swish her tail rapidly one time when I had her out. Soon after that she dived into my sleeve to hide. She's not wild caught. I think they do this in the wild to stir up leaves and whatnot to fool predators into thinking they're something they aren't.

Yes my anery does every time I open his cage. Nothing to be worried about.

All corn and rat snakes do this when they are upset, it doesn't matter whether they are wild-caught or CB.

My corn did that a few times as a baby, as well as musked. I've had her for 5 years and she hasn't done either since the first month I had her. I think most corns grow out of it, but not all.

all snakes have their own personalities, no two are exactly alike. Just like eating mice, musking, and biting; rattling of the tail is a natural defense mechanism. as this is shaking among dried dead leaves it will imitate a rattle snake, and this will ward off any predators. The typical pattern in which a snake goes through in defense is rattling the tail, musking, then striking. I have some that have never rattled, some that always rattle. I'll be honest it freaked me out at first but now i think its pretty cool.
