How about Radiata?

Mark Banczak Dec 18, 2004 02:04 PM

The local reptile store has a snake they labeled as an Albino Chinese Rat Snake but the clerk says its a Radiata. Although I really don't see the snake fitting my collection, its gorgeous and I was curious about them as a species. What can you tell me?

OK, I see the posts.

Well, I'd have to see the snake to tell if it was really a radiated rat, or not. If it is a radiated it would be a tropical type snake, not requiring a brumation. It would be from the genus Coelognathus, that's to say it was a "racer-rat". They are a little high-strung most of the time. Radiateds get pretty big, over six foot, I think. They do eat mice. Get a pic if you can.

I should be able to get a pic. I'll be curious to see if you think its legit, hybridized or another species. I don't know this species well at all so I couldn't tell.
