Feeding Probs.

I am having a hard time getting my baby blood to take a meal. I have had him for almost 1 month now. I started offering him f/t mice and then switched to f/t rat pups with no success. Should I try offering live prey? Does anyone feed new bloods in the dark due to their shyness? Any help here would be very much appreciated.

my blood has a very weird eating habit. the first rat has to be a p/k because a live will run around and he wont even look at the rat. but he will go right after the p/k. then after he is done with that one i will put a live in and it will be dead before you know it.

I had sveral problems with my baby. I learned after extensive research and talking with lots of people that most won't eat until first shed.

How old???

Mine went for several months and I HAD to force. He had lost major mass and strength. after a month of tough feedings crossing fingers he went into blue and started soaking and shed with some help (still weak). The next day ate three fuzzy mice on his own and has been a regular blood pig since.

I went to ProExotics.com and emailed them they wrote back that day. They know bloods and they care enough to help out. They also have a few fact sheets and husbandry sections on them.

hope you don't have my issues. I had been told he was eating and had shed but I don't think all the info was 100%.

They are shy feeders and weird about how they feed and when try placing food underr a hide spot. Leave a pink or two over night
try f/t then live. Try leaving a f/t right undr its nose. just don't nose tap them or anything like this they will get spooked. try maksing off the cage with paper or something so that it can't see any outside interference. revisit any environmental factors and make any needed adjustments.

best of luck. be patient and watch for signs.
