umm i wouldnt...how old is the male? plus he might just sit on the female so she cant eat even if he isnt mature yet...looks like he is not though

camaroguy Dec 18, 2004 03:32 PM

the male is about 6 months old and the female is about 2 1/2 or 3 m/o. so i shouldnt put them together? i havent yet but im just curious

No.

you really should do some reading on what a bd is.... so many folks ask this question, and so many folks ask why a dragon is missing a tail, foot etc... or why a dragon is not growing the same as it's "Buddy" in the same cage.

a BD is an OMNIVORE and is a reptile and in the wild they DO NOT LIVE IN GROUPS.

to a large dragon a smaller dragon is like a "Happy Meal" ready to eat when the big bd needs a quick snack.

same thing happens with almost all reptiles that eat live prey.
a large croc will eat a small one. a large monitor will eat a small one and so on....

sometimes two feamale bd's can get along in the same cage but even then you have to be ready to seperate them.

and a male will try to breed a feamle ... with no regard for the females willingness or health. that leads to sick females and dead ones.

so *PLEASE* do not try it.

and *PLEASE* read some good texts on reptile's and always figure that the tame sweet bd has the ablity to be as nasty as a croc if it wants to.

He's too big and she is way too small.

If you plan on breeding the two, then maybe when both get full grown introduce them to one another slowly. And only keep them together long enough to get the job done (remember if you do plan on breeding them, when they are together stay in the same room, you don't have to watch, but just incase he starts biting her or vice versa one might start making noise and you'd be able to seperate them immediately).

see i thought it was not a good idea, but im not an expert so i just generalized, so that me didnt go right ahead and do it...at the show i went to today though a vender/"breeder" said he keeps 3 females and 2 males in the same cage year round, i just rolled my eyes and walked on by

hi
they already told you NO

but you can put them togheter when the female is 1 1/2 years old then she is ful growen and then it would be no problem.
if you separete them they have no competition about the food.
nice beardies btw
check links on my website there is nice info on it

well...I learned my lesson with keeping beardies together. Mine are both females, 11 & 15 weeks, they have co-habitated for over a month, seeming to get along very well. This morning I have one with bite wounds to two of her feet. Both dragons are very social and this was completely unexpected. Just my experience and I will never house two together again!
