help me!!!

computerofme Dec 18, 2004 05:02 PM

i went to my local pet store today and they had a collard in a little plastic cage by itself. They said it had not chance of living so I took it home and i have it in a 10 gallon aquarium. It wont move very much and i just noticed it had mites. It is very small( looks like a baby). I have some t-rex bio mite tick spay i am spraying it with. What else can i do to help it???

The mite spray is good, although the mites are probably not the biggest problem this little guy has. Start by making sure he has the proper heat and light. You can buy small worms and crickets to feed him; dust them first with vitamin and calcium supplements. If you will go down the forum and read posts to and from "Momto6" starting on December 9, the care of an ill collared was discussed. Start with the suggestions there about heat, light, medications and food and let us know how you do. After you have done some reading come back if you have any questions and we will be happy to answer. Good luck with your little guy.

the little guy appears to be doing better. He ate a mealworm today!! i know hes not out of the woods yet, so im gonna keep a close eye on him. hes been drinking water mixed with gatorade powder and it looks like hes getting some energy from it. thanks for all your help everyone!! i'll keep you posted, hopefully he pulls through.

I hope he continues to eat on his own. I bought my babies mini-meal worms, they wiggle a lot more than the bigger ones do, making themselves more attractive. My babies ate the heck out of them and got pretty fat!
