I want to get another uro to share a tank with my red saharan. He's a male, and I would like to perhaps get an ornate female. are there size stipulations that i should be aware of? Should she be smaller than he? He's about 10 inches long.

Do not do that. They will interbreed and there is no need to go for hybrids.
I would highly suggest that you do not intermix different species. Lizards generally are loners and prefer solitude, but if you do want to try keeping two together, get another saharan, it can be a yellow if you don't want the same color, and it must be a female, as two males usually fight. Make sure you have an alternate cage set-up in case it doesn't work. Always be on the lookout for signs of aggression, they can be very subtle. This is a general rule, as people do have two males together that MAY get along. Of course this is very individual, each case is different. If you want an ornate, keep it separate or buy a pair of ornates. I would not want to cross breed anything with ornates as they are so beautiful , why mess with that! Good luck.

Hi this is a very tough subject and everyone has the right to their own opinion but i dont see anything wrong with cross breeding uros. I mean there are a lot of different Bearded Dragon species and when people cross them no one yells at them. For instance German Giant X Orange Flame. If we are not going to let these hybrid uros out into the wild what harm is there? If people do start to interbreed uros and you want a pure bred then go to a reputable (sp) reptile breeder like Lindsay or Douglas Dix. I think it is ok to cross breed uros if you are going to sell them truefully. I am not saying you should cross breed a mali and an ornate and say you have ornate babies for sale. But if you sell them truefully I dont see any harm in that. My dog is a mutt, probably has over ten different dogs in her and she is a beauty, she is not a pest nor a unwanted animal. There is no reason not to cross breed uros. I am not saying you have to cross breed uros, but let the owner decide what they wants to do not what you want them to do. If you want to house a female ornate with your Saharan male i think that is fine. If they breed then you can have lots of fun guessing what types of colors they will be when they hatch. I house my malis and my geryi in one big cage and they all get along fine. I know lots of you are going to start yelling at me once you read this but i just want to tell everyone how I feel about this subject.

1.1 malis(Spike, Marshmellow)
0.2 geryi(Flame, Sunset)
erm, a german giantXorange wont really count as interbreeding i dont think an orange bearded dragon and a german giant are both Pogona vitticeps arnt they
i think it would be better to compare a rakins dragon crossed with a bearded dragon wouldn't it?
There are over ten different species of bearded dragons. Kind of like uromastyx. All of them live on different parts of autrailia and sometimes the range of one species crosses over another species so they interbreed in the wild too. The most common are Inland Bearded Dragons and German Giants. But what i was going at was we do cross breed reptiles in captivity and you dont hear people saying "dont breed that German Giant with a Inland Bearded Dragon" or " I dont think you should breed that Coastal Bearded Dragon with a Rankins Dragon." I think the owner of their uros should be able to do whatever they want as long as they are not harming their animals. If he/she wants to house a female ornate with a Saharan male why shouldn't he/she be able to. I think it is thier choice of what to do not ours.

All the bearded dragons that are bred together are Inland Bearded Dragons. "German Giants" are just inland bearded dragons selectively bred for large size and health. Sandfire dragons are inland bearded dragons bred for an orange/red coloration. Breeding a Sandfire to a German giant is not mixing species. It's like breeding a blue ornate to a green ornate. If you paired an inland bearded dragon to a coastal bearded dragon that is more in line of what you are talking about.
