Tank humidity question

Inframidi Dec 19, 2004 10:10 AM

What should the humidity be in the tank for a juvenile leo and can anyone give me some tips on keeping it humid. I use paper towels as substrate.

Leos don't need humidity. The only place in the tank that should have humidity is the humid hide. Please don't spray your leo either. Too much humidity can cause Upper Respiratory Infections.

Thank you for answering. I have never sprayed my leo, but the overhead light I have keeps drying up the paper towels in the hide. Is it okay to keep spraying the inside several times a day?

Even if it shouldn't be really humid, the guage I have says 40-45. Is that okay for my buddy?

One more thing. Is it normal that he has spent most of his time in the humid hide? When I got him home, he was all over his new 20 gallon, but when I went to bed and until right now, he's been in his humid hide unless I've taken him out to move things around.

P.S. He eats like a pig.

45 is a little too high for the humidity. It's normal for them to like one hide better than the others. Leave him alone for a while and try not to move things around too much. It's good he's eating well.

Yup it's fine to spray it whenever it dries out. Just make sure it isn't sopping wet..just moist.
