Giving up on breeding?

CornsnakeKeeper5 May 15, 2003 05:31 PM

I house my male and female together, or let's say, this is how I've housed them since around January. How come she isn't gravid yet? LOL, last year, I had a younger pair spit them out with no cooling or anything and I've read that it's quite common for breeding without cooling. Is my male just not doing his job? They've both shed a few times in the last month, and I can't tell if she's gravid, because she always kinks her body up to look like eggs. I have a spare male, but since I don't know the genetics on the one with her now, I didn't really want to switch males. Any ideas? or am I just expecting too early?

You might want to try seperating them for a time and then putting them back together again. I've noticed that they breed much better when they first come into contact with each other. Absense makes the heart grow fonder and all that.
