Caging questions: Boaphile cages for ball pythons?

JDalbo Dec 19, 2004 11:01 AM

I was thinking of getting boaphile stacking cages, but have a few questions. Are they good cages for balls? Are they large enough to house full grown, adult ball pythons? Their dimensions are 48"x24"x11" (length x depth x height). There is also one which is 17" high. Which, if any, would be the best size? I'm looking to get cages which will house them their entire lives, upsizing cages is begining to get expensive. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Also if anyone has any pics of their setup please post them. Thanks, Joe

I would go with the boaphile 321 (3x2x1) It will hold all but the very largest of the large ball pythons.

If you think you might end up getting more BPs, as they tend to be addictive , you might consider a rack system. Racks take up less space and houses more snakes. With some racks, you can even buy by the level... just add more levels as you expand your collection. Just something to consider.

I actually was considering a rack system for that reason. However, I currently live in an apartment and the dimensions on the racks I've seen seem to be very deep. Can anyone recomend a good rack system?

I have a boaphile rack right now and I love it. It maintains great temps and is good size for sub adults, they do make them bigger though. Mine is only 24" X 16" and holds 6 tubs. In a year or two though I want to get Freedom Breeder racks! But for simple ease, I moved my boaphile from the living room to the bedroom opposite ends of the house while it was full of snakes and didnt' even spill the water dishes, these things are light and so easy to move definately a plus.
