Hi,
Anyone correct me if im wrong, but I thought jacksons usually on average live a little longer? I read in a book that a record for a male veiled was 8 years, and a jacksons was 9 years. Not entirly sure though...

I don't think there is a clear answer for this yet. Jax are trickier to house and more sensitive to diet, so they may be prone to more health problems than veileds. The result is we may not know how long they COULD live. The majority of cham species don't live longer than 6 years in captivity but of course there are individual exceptions. We really don't know that much about long term nutrition and its effects on their lifespans. Melleri and parsoni are known to live into their teens and twenties. Differences of a year are probably not significant. I would suspect that montane species live longer than lowland species do. They reproduce at a slower pace and their whole life history is slower with built in seasons of low metabolic rest. Many species like this tend to live more years than those with faster reproductive histories.
