A few 04' holdback pics

Eric Sandoval Dec 19, 2004 03:11 PM

Here's a couple female mojaves we hatched this year, along with one of the nicest pastels I've seen.

And here's one of our recent arrivals. He's getting big fast and might be able to breed this season.

This pic is a couple years old, but with the paradox talk below I thought I'd post it.

Beautiful snakes all around, Eric. I was wondering if you have any recent photos of the Paradox in the photo?

Has he bred? To what and what where the results? I've been wondering for years if the paradox albino balls are homozygous albino or heterozygous albino.

Eric Sandoval Dec 21, 2004 10:27 AM

I might be able to breed him to one of his female offspring this season. She's a little small now about 1000g, but I'm hoping she'll have enough weight to give it a go in Spring.

"one of his female"

Are you talking about a daughter? Albino, het?

Basically I wasn't assuming that the paradox are homozygous albinos. They may well be but it seems like all the ones I've heard from came from het breedings and I was wondering if a paradox albino might only be het albino that for some reason shows part albino. I guess that isn't particularly likely. The only way to tell for sure would be to breed one to an albino and produce either only a lot of albinos or some normal looking hets.

Eric Sandoval Dec 21, 2004 06:15 PM

Yes, I meant one of his daughters. I think Tracy bred a paradox to an albino and produced 3 albinos out of 3 eggs. You would have to ask her, to be sure though.

So what all have you bred him to and what all did you produce (relative to the albino gene)?

nita Dec 20, 2004 12:01 PM

What an awsome paradox albino!!! Stunning!
