Here I am...wondering about another oddity about snakes -- does hemipenes size matter? I've read that males may probe seven to twelve scales deep. In my mind, that means some male snakes are more "hung" than others. I've also read that some male snakes can fertilize more females than others. So...has anyone done a study relating hemipenes size with fertility rates?
I know that basically any male can "get-r-done" (thanks Bachman), but was curious if these gifted snakes make better sires. Any ideas?
