more calcium?

mixitup Dec 19, 2004 03:25 PM

My dragons(CWD) are starting to eat 2-3 fuzzies a week now. (along with mealworms and gut-loaded crickets.) Should I still dust their crickets with calcium?
I want to make sure they have enough calcium, and I've read that they can get too much calcium, even though it's a lot less likely to happen.
Thank you for any input!!

It's not just the calcium. It's all about the calcium/forfor ratio.
That has to be 2:1 and fuzzies seem to have that good ratio.
Crickets don't, they contain a lot more fosfor than calcium and that's why you have to dust them with calcium, évery time.

Phosphorus, is generally higher then Calcium in many insects, as a rule you should always suppilment with a phosphorus free calcium suppliment that includes D3 when feeding crickets. When feeding pinkies or mice, only in growing waterdragons from 1 to 2 years of age or breeding females. As posted above the optimal ratio of calcium to phosphorus is 2:1.
