Mouth Rot ???? Please help My Iguana!!!!!!!!

neilaustin17 Dec 19, 2004 11:06 PM

About a month ago i noticed a spot on my iguana's mouth that has progressively enlarged, but I just thought he had an inflamed cut because he has had that problem before. The size of the spot has been increasing over time, and is now about the size of a regular marble sticking off one side of his jaw. I think it might be mouth rot, but I am not sure. If anyone has any different diagnosis or any ideas for successful treatment, PLEEEEEAAASE respond!

Thanks a lot, Neil Austin

...by taking him to the vet. The vet is the only one who can diagnose and treat the infection. There is nothing you can do on your own.

I totally agree. That does not sound like mouth rot at all! That sounds like an abcess. I cann't say anything for sure because I can't see it and I am not a vet, yet. I am in vet school, but that is not a lot of help, yet. Get him to the vet ASAP, the abcess (if it is that) can cause blood poisioning and kill your friend.
