Gravid Veiled Female Question

Atomikk Dec 20, 2004 03:31 AM

I am experienced in egg laying of female chameleons but havent had this problem yet. My female is 2 years old and has had 2/4 successful clutches. The other two were not fertilized.

Now she seems like she has eggs (she is a bit too wide), but is not displaying any behaviours. It has been a while since I noticed that she is egg bound. I figured I will give her time for her to realize it is time to dig. She is still not ready, it appears. Its been at least 1 month since I noticed her having eggs. She doesnt like crickets as much but she does enjoy her fruits. What would you guys suggest I do? I did read somewhere were they overfeed them so that they start digging a lot sooner. I dont want to do that unless I have no choice. What do you guys think?

Throw that book away!!! If you overfeed her & she's carrying infertile eggs, she'll NOT start digging sooner. But it can & probably will cause her to become eggbound. Some of my older females take over 2 months to lay after copulation. So please, just be patient.

what book is THAT in? No, if she is hungry she will eat. Luna stops eating for weeks before laying (always infertile).
