green basilisk?

joker_66599 Dec 20, 2004 04:06 AM

i work at petsmart here in cali. i get free repts all the time i take what i can. but i have 2 geckos (one leporad on african fat-tail) 2 ball pythons (1 male 1 female) 1 red ear slider (about the size of a silver dollar). and my newest one a green basilisk.

well to my Q we got rept's in the store a about a week ago and the green basilisk was one. 2 days go i was his eye was puffed up and shut and dark along with the side of his face was dark too. like her burned it. He/she could have gotten to the top screen where the light sits. I think he/she will be ok. less then a foot long with tail. I soaked him in water with vitamins in it (electrolights) I think you spell it. if the swelling dose not go down i am going to take him to the vet. anything like this happen to anyone?

If it dose not have crest right now tht mean it's a female? or they get them where they got older?

well than for any help i really want it to live and eye to get better. thanx for your time and sorry for being so long and sorry about spelling it's 2am here night all.

PS i will take pics tomorrow

keep it well hydrated, spray is several times a day very well. and you can sex them at about that size. both will have a slight ridge down the center of the spine. but the males will have a " spikey" ridge down the middle, it will go almost until the tail, then will have a small gap, and then will start off again.
females only have the crest on the head so if there is a noticeable pattern that breaks right around the tail and continues again then it is probably a male.
