Spraying vs Fogging

Randy27 May 15, 2003 05:38 PM

Daily misting seems to fill up the gravel bottom reservoirs in my tinc vivs pretty quickly, so I was wondering if I could use an ultrasonic fogger most of the time and mist only occasionally.
Any thoughts?

Unless they have made advancements in terrarium fogger technology i would avoid those thing, they have been know to give pretty powerful electric shocks if you touch them in the right place.

I had this problem with my Leuc tank, so what I did is great reduced the misting. I found that I can mist 1-2 times a week and keep the humidity above 90%.

But, we wouldn't want to do this say with a thumbnail tank, right? All that I have read is that the thumbnails like the misting and when that happens frequently and regularly they lay better. Is that right? I'm am wondering about having to drill everytime I set up a new tank. Drilling is kinda a pain.

I'm no expert, but I have found that I can not mist my Leuc tank for days and the humidty stays above 90%. When I first got them I was misting every day, and water was starting to gather in the bottom of the tank.

Maybe you could just use a very fine mist and not actually use a lot of water, but if the water can not evaporate it will gather in the bottom. If you plan to use any type of misting system then you better drill the tanks. I have 3 tanks and I mist them bu hand so I know exactly how much water I am putting in.

I do not have any thumbs, a very light mist each day would be about the same as 1-2 times a week with heavy a mist. Just try to reduce the overall amout of water your putting in.

Also if I had to guess when you are talking about a fogger you mean the external cool mist ones? I would think either way you are putting moisture into the tank and it will have t go someplace.
