unwillingness to move around

iamyour_messiah Dec 20, 2004 12:23 PM

So alright, both my geckos never really move. I know they are nocturnal so they are not meant to be up and about during teh day but I do remember the leos i used to have would be basking under the light at times. But the two I have now, i rarely even see them out of their hides during the night. The only time one of them comes out is when she sees crickets. She will just run out after them. But the other gecko won't even do this. She just sits in her hide ALL day. The problem is not that she doesnt wan't to eat, because if i put crickets at the entrance of the hide she will eat them and even come out after them if the cricket tries to run. But still, it annoys me that she won't come out on her own to hunt for the crickets. Is this normal for juvenile geckos, and will she grow out of it?

thanks in advance

Completely normal and nothing you can do about it. Adults are more willing to be out in the open, but I know many a leo that ALWAYS hide. Really depends on the personality of the animal
