Dragons don't seem to move much (newbie question)

britbiker Dec 20, 2004 04:27 PM

My beardies are about 3 months old. They are growing and seem healthy. My questions is: I've read they are very active lizards. However, mine seem to mostly want to bask in their heat lamp and move around very little. Is this normal, or is the cage too cold or something?

Sounds like your cage is too cold. Anytime they spend excessive amounts of time basking or on the cool end my first thought goes to temps. Check them with a good thermometer and make sure you're checking surface temps not ambient air temps. 100-110 basking and 80-85 cool. Infrared thermometers are the best but a little $10 indoor/outdoor with the probe from walmart will do you just fine for most situations.
