HELLLLLLP HEAT PACKS DURING EMERGENCY

XtremeXteriors Dec 20, 2004 10:43 PM

its starting to get really cold where i live and last night the power went out for a few hours and i was wondering if the 4"x5" 40 hour heat packs would be good during an emergency like a power outage during the winter and is it safe for the snakes i know people ship with them but most people dont expect a snake to be in a closed container for 20 hours with a heat pack how many snakes can you put in the same container with how many heat packs. should the packs be wrapped or seperated from the animals would it be good to get a few larger insulated boxes in case of an emergency like that would they help as far as keeping heat in
also if there are any other recomendations i would greatly appreciate them

I would definitely make sure that the snakes do not have direct contact with the heat pack. Having a few insulated boxes around do sound like a good idea.

I have used similar things during a few outages that lasted more than a few hours. I make sure to have "snake bags" or pillow cases handy and I used coolers as long as the lids don't get shut tight. I only put a couple in a cooler just to fill the bottom(no squashing) and seperated the heat packs with couple layers newspaper.
