Need help with milksnake ID!

longissima Jul 03, 2003 02:56 AM

I received this "little" guy from a friend of mine. He is ~4 feet long and the origin of this snake is not known. He does not have the solid head stripe found on most milks. I posted him on the milksnake forum and was told he was Guatemalan (abnorma), Ecuadorian (micropholis...rare), or Andean (andesiana). If you have any info or pics to compare him to, that would be great as I would love to find him a mate!! Thanks again. Derek

I don't know if it will have your snake on it, but it has milks and kings.

It looks like an Andean Milk (L. t. andesiana).
Try to get a hold of William's Systematics & Nat Hist of the American Milk Snake, or Markel's Kingsnakes & Milksnakes for pix & info.
