I really didn't want to make the tiles a permanent fixture, I like being able to take them out and thouroghly clean them. I have just become so frustrated with the tile cracks. No matter what I fill them with insects always escape and hide in them. I have tried filling them with wet paper towel, it's way to tedious. I have tried sand, but I don't want to risk impaction. I have tried bed-a-beast, but it doesn't stay down. I really like look of the tiles and the relative ease of their care (they are tranfering the heat perfectly) so I don't want to get rid of them.
I currently I am feeding mealworms so I'm not that concerned about them hidding. However, I am going to go back to using crickets half the time. The geckos just seem so much more lively and willing to eat with the faster motion of crickets. They haden't eaten their mealworms all week, but when I put in a couple of crickets they went nuts.
Anyways, my questions is has anyone used grout to tile their leos tank? Are their any precautions that need to be taken (are some types toxic...)?
Thanks for any info,
Lisa
