Hello all!I have seen question's concerning aspen on this forum a few times,an I understand the issue's about feeding on it either put the prey item on a piece of news paper or feed in somthing different!News paper is great easy an disposible but I am getting tired of seeing black ink all over my cleaner boa's,I wanna see their awsome pinks not blotchy ink spots!So I am thinking about using aspen in my enclosiers!Ok,Heat transfer,Will it still let my boa's have their hot spot?Or will the aspen cut down the temps of the hot spot?Remember,I dont have the good under the tank heating that is run by a thermastat,I messed up an wasted money on zoomeds an t-rex's when I could have saved money an went the more efficiant route!Plus all my boa's are in aquariums,Ranging from 75 gallons to 20 gallon longs!With the dreaded screen lids!I have doctored up the lids to save on heat an humidity!But it takes the incadescent bulb over the heat pad to get my hot spot of 90 degree's!Am I asking for problems with my heating by switching to aspen?I know I will probably have much better luck with holding humidity!Any help with these question's will be great!Thanks Eric[Hypoboa]

Question's Concerning Aspen!

I hate using news paper. Thats just me. Aspen is what i use. Aspen should in no way change the heat from coming up into the cage. I think your boas might enjoy it better. They can bury themselfs in it and mine seem to like to burrow through it. Try it and see what you think. You can always go back to newspaper.

We use Cypress exclusively,our snakes would freak if it ever got 90* in their cages.
