What would be a tempory cage for a ball python?

silenthill Dec 21, 2004 12:28 PM

I found a ball python that I want. He is an adult male. This time I am going to get him a boaphile though. It will take me four weeks to get that so what can I keep the ball python in while I wait? Would a sweater box with an undertank heater be good? Or should I just wait? Will there be many availible adult pythons in a month.

Be very careful when you use certain under tank heaters with the sweater box. Make sure it doesn't get too hot that it warps or melts the sweater box. You could hook up a dimmer switch or a thermostat to manage the heat for the under tank heater.

So all I need is:

Rubbermaid container

UTH (I have a Zoo med one)

Dimmer (already have)

What about air holes. Should I just drill them in the top?

I drilled holes in all of the ones I use for quarantining my snakes.

I put holes in my sweater boxes by melting them in with a soldering iron. It leaves nice rounded edges and you have less chance of cracking the plastic then you do with a drill. Do it outside though, the fumes from melting plastic are not fun in an enclosed space.
