beardie not himself

ibdrummer Dec 21, 2004 02:43 PM

Dear fellow beardie lovers,
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
I got a hatchling about a month ago. He is in a 20gallon tank by himself. He used to eat like crazy when I put in the crickets. But now, he is barely eating at all. Sometimes he eats just 5 a day. He spends most of his day and the night on the top branch. The temperature under the heat lamp gets to 109. The only reasons I can think of is that he is getting too much vitamin A or is dehydrated. We were giving the vitamin once every day. However we stopped that a little over a week ago and moved to only twice a week. Now, it there anyway to tell if he is dehydrated? We only actually see him drink when we put water on our finger and he drinks that way. I just got back in town, my dad was taking care of him, and i will be home to watch him during the day. I am starting on giving him baths today to make sure he gets water.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much,

Stephanie

he may have slight case of impaction. what are the size of crickets your feeding him? Shouldnt be any larger than the space between his eyes. A warm bath everyday should help. As far as the vitamins, hopefully somebody with more experience than I have will help you out there.
just a thought....

I make sure to feed him the right sized crickets. I'll keep up on the baths.
