Here's a pretty good head shot.

This one has too much reflection but the store was busy so I didn't ask him to open the cage. At least it shows the body and markings pretty well. Interesting snakes. The female was barely marked so I didn't try for a shot of her.

I really couldn't tell you which species it must be, maybe Elaphe carinata or Elaphe climacophora. But I'm pretty sure that it is not a Coelognathus species.

Frankly that is what I was wondering. It didn't seem to fit the proper look. The pet store has it labeled as a "Chinese Rat" but verbally they say they were told it is a Radiata. I don't know enough about Asians to tell. I keep normal Climacophoras and I'm confident it isn't one of those. That brings us back to Carinata. I think you hit it right with that one. After looking carefully at the pictures on Sacha Korell and Rex Knight's site, it seems to fit the pattern and size requirements. The head pattern and shape looks nearly identical to the one Rex and Sacha have pictured. I'll talk to them next time I'm over there and take a printout of the web page about them. I suppose Carinata and Radiata can be confused but that isn't very responsible on their part.

Looks like it could be carinata to me too, but hard to tell being amel and somewhat of a distance. Good luck with that if you try them. You said you had climacophora? Do you keep any other Asian rats, Mark? Just wondering how they're doing in that climate. TC.

Overall they are doing pretty well but I'm not ready to say they are doing well here. I'm holding back until Spring for a final judgment. They soak in their water dish every couple days. I mist their cage daily and I have them in Vision Cages so the evaporation is reduced. It looks like I'm keeping their humidity at an adequate but not optimum level. The male just went opaque 2 days ago so I'm anxious to see how well the shed progresses. Their eating habits have not changed so that's a pretty good sign. Ask me again in a couple months and I'll update you.
