breeding season for newts

i would like to know when the breeding season is for newts. thanks

It depends completly on the species of newt or salamander. Some breed in the fall, some breed in the spring. Then when they actually lay the eggs/larva also depends on the species. You'd have to be more specific. A good rule of thumb though is right after the snow melts is when most would start.

i have redspotted and firebelly newts

Redspotted newts (N. viridescens) often breed in the spring, and in the fall. Breeding is triggered by a shorter photoperiod, and cooler weather. If you plan on breeding the redspotteds, your best bet is to just manipulate the photoperiod. Cooling the tank down will also help, but isn`t necessary.
