White bump on baby eyelash viper, any ideas???

nri Dec 21, 2004 07:56 PM

I just rescently aquired a baby eyelash viper from a good friend, now the baby was born without eyes, due to breeding true tigers, so abnormality is expected... But, the little eyelash has developed a white bump and I have never seen anything like this before, any thoughts??? I have a pic but can't post for some reason, any advice would be greatly appreciated... I can send a pic to anyone who might be able to help... Thanx in advance, ~N

Hi:

First of all please use the scientific name, so I'm sure what type of eyelash wer're talking about.

Please send me a pic to see and maybe I can take a shot at an answer.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Did I read that post correctly? You have a snake that has no eyes? Why would anybody breed a snake expecting abnormalities beyond colour?

Regarding the eyelash (assuming it's Bothriechis) without eyes, do you have any idea how many babies were born this way? I would recommend the breeder seriously reconsidering breeding his specimens because the last thing anyone needs is "het for eyeless" eyelash vipers polluting the gene pool.

Not sure how many were born this way, but I don't have any control over what the guy breeds. It is his right to do whatever he feels he wants to do. I agree with not breeding them but I can't control anyone. I do not breed them and I never will, not the right thing to do anyway. [Off the subject>>> I took the babies in because he did not want them and, no one wants to buy them. I am giving them a place to live and will raise them into healthy happy adults, and I am happy to do it, who knows what would have come of them otherwise. No reason to treat them bad because of a disability.]
Anywho, the question posted has nothing to do with the eyes and how many were born. The question was about white bumps that I am not familiar with, hence the question. So, if you have any info about the white bumps, I am all ears, otherwise I don't need any answers that are about a different subject. Thanks for your time and reading my post please let me know if you have any info.
