Cage ? for indigos

I was just wondering what you guys use for cages? What is the best substrate in your opinion? How do you heat your cages? Just some very basic questions. It seems to me that most people use the plastic shoebox type containers for smaller species, juveniles, and larger aquariums for the bigger specimens.Does this also apply to drymarchon? Or do they need basking spots? Do you guys buy your cages, or make them yourself? Do most of you guys have rack systems? Has anyone ever built a large cage for an indigo that has a simulated gopher burrow? All replies will be greatly appreciated.

This topic has been covered many times and you should be able to find multiple answers and stuff that folks might forget to mention in a rehash.

After using wooden cages and plastic boxes, I've been using Vision cages for the past few years. They're light weight and easy to really keep clean. I heat the room rather than individual cages. I use aged newspaper for substrate.

For hatchlings I still use plastic boxes with paper towel substrate. Need frequent cleaning.

I use neodesha and Vision; most are kept in Visions (hatchlings are started in rack systems). Adults are kept in 4 to 6' models; one per cage. I use newspaper substrate. Cages are heated with low wattage incadescent bulbs (70-85 day temps, 60'/low 70's at night). Like Doug said, there's lots of great stuff in archives and at his web site; www.indigosnakes.com
