I think my Argie is pre-ovulating but not sure?

Dubhead23 Dec 22, 2004 12:20 AM

I'm attempting to breed my Argentine boas this year and my female just shed a little over a week ago and now she looks like she's swelled up through most of her midsection. she ate last friday and she's gotten bigger over the past day or two. She wouldn't let me take her out Monday and she's been kind of hissy since when I reach in to handle her.

She's 4 years old and 7 ft long and the male is a 4 year old proven breeder at almost 6 ft long. I've been cooling her at night to about 75F at night and keeping the day temps about 85F with a heat lamp at 90F.

Any info on what I should do to help this along would be great. I'm going to continue cooling her thru her next shed and then if she's ovulating I'll put the male in her cage.

Thanks

I'm not an expert. I've only breed rosy boas a few times but, I believe you do not have to wait till shes ovulates to introduce the male. I think by the males presence this will stimulate her.
Good luck
