lele, hows luna?

Melisondra Dec 22, 2004 12:53 AM

I know its been only 2 days but I havent been checking the forum as often lately. Any signs of improvement?

Yeah you can never tell with these guys sometimes before it's too late, which I agree needs to be stressed on the forum. Same thing happened with Aurora. The supplement I was giving her, I was dusting almost DAILY and the vet found she was still losing tons of calcium to the eggs she was carring. Hopefully Luna will be just fine, shes a trooper and im sure will pull through this just fine

Merry (early) Chrismukkah to all!

Hi Erin,
Thanks. I am going to get that supplement tested by our soil lab at UNH after the holidays.

She is still SO dehydrated. She cannot seem ot get enough fluid. She lives under the mist and her dripper and just lets it pour on her. I know I need to be careful about URI but I feel her hydration is most important right now. Plus it is so dry here that the minute I turn off the humidifier the humidity drops immediately - the air is sucking out moisture as much as her eggs are sucking out her calcium!

She is willing to take in some repta-aid and I am mixing in her NCg. Usually she likes the stuff but this batch is apple flavored! Dr. G said it usually goes to beardies and that threy love the flavoring! LOL! too bad Luna doesn't

Her color is good as is her grip so the MBD was caught very early and I am hoping she doesn't lay until I can get her calcium level back up - and that she has no egg binding. I will get an x-ray when we go back.

thanks again,
lele

Just to re-assure you a bit...it will be very hard for her to end up with URI if the air is that dry. As long as the air is exchanging and moving, let her soak!

Thanks, that what I sort of figured. She knows what she needs and I am giving her all she wants. She is warm and dry by lights out and she is not in a "constant" fog - like I sometimes am!

hahaha! I have to check her(I think) exuvium to determine sex but I think it is a girl. If so, I will name her Natasha (gotta stick to that last letter "a" if it is a female). Why? here is what brought me to that decision (I am really going to show my age with this one - and yours if you know what I am talking about!) Do you remember the song Boris the Spider by The Who? (uh, 1966, maybe not). Then I thought of Boris and Natasha from the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons (I can already see the scrunched up faces of anyone born after 1960!)

thus, Natasha. I hope to know what sex she/he is soon. Then again, Tula Rose, my pinktoe got her name only because I decided she was a girl. Doesn't really matter now - does it?
