Apalachicola kingsnakes- Are they available?

5rings Dec 22, 2004 07:57 AM

Dont normally post such question but I came across an adult male Apalachicola for sale the other day. The price is right and the animal is healthy but I wondered if there are females around. I havent seen any offered for sale, but then I havent really been looking. Sad part is the seller had a female and she died a few months ago.

Where are you looking? I would imagine any reptile expo or show would have them. Haven't seen many on the classifieds recently though.

I dont think Ive seen adults available, but I see babies pretty often. There were some at the show I went to earlier this month. There seems to be a fair amount of them out there, but I dont see adult females available for sale too often in any species, so maybe look into getting a newborn female.

I've been looking for a male apalachicola king since I was so unfortunate as to lose my male earlier this spring. Now I have a monstrous huge female with no male to pair her with, and her daughter from '03 is getting pretty big too! The babies I got my first year breeding her were so beautiful, I was extremely disappointed that she didn't have any eggs this year, twice as disappointed when I discovered the male had died of unknown causes.

Still keep hoping that I can find an adult male by spring! Otherwise my girl will decimate my rat colony! She's so huge she eats juvenile rats! Would eat one a week if I allowed her to, but the maintenance diet I have her on one every other week still keeps her fat!
