Biting prey???

1) Is there any reason why a neonate crotalid would choose to hold onto its prey rather then let it go in mormal fassion

2) Is there any reason why a neonate would hold onto its prey.. even if in prior feedings it has struck in the typical fasion

3) 2nd question only pertaining to adults now
