E_Coleman Dec 22, 2004 09:55 AM

I hve had my BP for about 2 months, and a few days ago (after feeding) these little black bugs showed up all over my snake. What are they, Where did they come from, and how do I get rid of them? Please help, I am leaving town in a few days!!

Those are mites. They likely came in with your mouse order. Any good reptile shop will have the proper treatment for it. In the mean time, carefully rinse the snake in warm water to get rid of the mites that are exposed and then quarentine it in a clean bare tank till you can treat it. The tank it is in should be striped bare and cleaned with bleach to sterilize it. Rinse thoroughly and leave this out in the sun till the smell leaves. Throw out any bottom medium. Rocks, branches and water bowls should be dunked in hot...HOT water to kill mites on those.
