the best learning material for crocodilian husbandry?

rugbyman2000 Dec 22, 2004 11:30 AM

Hey crocfiles,

My knowledge with crocodilians is pretty basic so our rescue did not used to accept them, until recently. When I realized how desperate the situations were that many are coming from (many confiscations about to be destroyed, etc) I finally accepted my first small gator and decided to start accepting more. But now that our rescue is accepting small crocodilians I need to take my understanding of their husbandry and care from a basic word-of-mouth education to something more advanced, and I'm hoping you all would reccomend some good books, websites, etc.

Thanks everyone! And if you'd like to adopt crocodilians through our rescue please get in touch and we'll let you know when they come in!

Josse,
Go to the crocodilian FAQ pages. That will tell you all you need to know about captive care. Also Chris Dieter has a book out that's great on captive care and husbandry.

Ditto.

That FAQ is located at www.crocodilian.com. The book is "The Ultimate Guide to Crocodilians in Captivity," by Christopher T. Dieter, who ocassions the board here.
