Insect infestation

sunbirdx Dec 22, 2004 11:59 AM

Hey guys,
I have had a WFT for about 3 years now, and all of the sudden, i got an infestation of tiny gnat like bugs in the substrate (reptibark). They arent fruit flies, and they have even managed to move into my bearded dragons sand substrate! I have changed the substrate twice and they manage to keep coming back. Is there any none spray or solution that I can use to kill these things without murdering my treefrog? His tank seems to be the main culprit...
Also, has anyone ever lost a whites because they had too much plant matter around? I swear to one of my whites died because he couldnt find food with so many plants around. Since then I have started feeding crickets and worms in containers to prevent starvation....but anyone else with similar experience?
Rachel

It's most likley b/c the WTF's substrate is too damp. Have you ever tried hand feeding? Real easy, take the crix by the back legs and hold infront of frog's mouth. I like doing this b/c this way i know how many crix my frogs eat. good luck
