Baby food?

Triad Dec 22, 2004 04:47 PM

I heard some people say that when a bearded gets dehyrdated they use a mixture of pedialyte and gerber baby food.

Mine aren't but I want to make sure I have the stuff in case they do get dehydrated (that way if they are on a holiday I'll have it and won't need to wait to get it when the stores open again).

Isn't it gerber baby food like turkey?

Also, can you feed the baby food to them just by itself or no?

Thanks.

I have just heard of people mixing pedialite in with water, and dropped feeding it the the beardie. But I guess the Gerber baby food (like turkey or beef) would work also.

I bought the baby food today so if I needed to mix it with pedialyte I could. So maybe if it is good for them I might try feeding a tiny bit to them.

Also for any of you who have bearded's that love hand feedings: Draco, my bro's bearded, loves hand feedings. But she has a hard time determining what's my hand and what's her food once she gets going (she's a big pig ha ha ha) so I bought baby spoons that have rubber silicon on the end so now when I go to give her peas, she can eat them off the end of a soft spoon instead of tweezers(not taking the chance feeding peas with my fingers).

You can get some at Target, 6 gerber ones for $4.89.

Havent u guys had some before, that stuff is great!!! Just kidding of coarse, but it is just fine for beardies and can be given as enrichment sometimes. essentially the stuff is just liquified veggies, the same veggies they would be getting from solid. i see no problem w/ it, and have even tried it in the past, mine didnt like carrots i think it was. have fun

I've fed the baby food to my dragon by itself. One thing you have to watch out for is the mixed veggies one. If it has spinach in it, that could be a problem. I've also read that you can use chicken stock with the vitamin powder in it when they're sick. My vet recommended this for my chameleon when she got sick and it worked quite well, but you have to check the salt content on the back of the label. Don't want to cause more problems for them!

Oh I know. I gave them each a tiny bit last night. Draco didn't seem to like it too much but Hades likes it. Every time I moved the spoon away he ran towards it to get more off of it. The size of the food I gave them is equal in size to a green pea(a large green pea).

Maybe I'll pick up chicken next time and some green peas and beans and see how they like them.

My bearded dragon loves baby food, she likes the mixed vegies and chicken, and just plain chicken, and just mixed vegies, she kind of likes the carrots and peas too. These are all gerber stage 2, except for the chicken that;s stage 1. But Tetra is hooked and now she loves being hand fed with the dropper. she still eats crickets too. I hope I helped.

You should try the carrots too or the squash. Tatsu loves both of them.
