Aspen Bedding????

Luke Snyder Dec 22, 2004 05:37 PM

I have used aspen bedding for years and I really like it. Normally It comes in a compressed bag in finely shredded pieces. Well I just got a bag and there are some really big chips, like what you would see in a cedar chips bag?? The stuff is definatly aspen but because it is bigger pieces for some reason there is a definate odor, I dont know if this odor will have a negitive effect on my snakes or not. I still have some aspen from my last bag(very fine) that I am useing in some cages and there is no odor. I dont want my snakes to be trapped in a cage with this stuff if it is going to have a negitive effect.

Any responses will be greatly appreciated
Thank you very much
Luke Snyder

if it bothers you then get rid of it. or chop it into smaller pieces. you could try soaking it in hot water or an ammonia solution then letting it dry out. but if it didnt cost too much then you could just go buy another bag.
